RE: Briarwood Commercial Area Plat - Tax Map 32G, Parcel 1
Dear Mr. Wood:
At the Planning Commission meeting last night staff was
granted administrative approval of the above-noted plat
provided that one, or both, of the following notes are added
to the plat:
• Access is restricted to Austin Drive, Briarwood
Drive and Camelot Drive unless access to Route 29
is approved by the Planning Commission at the time
of site plan review.
• This commercial area constitutes one whole parcel,
sections of which shall not be sold separately
without Planning Commission approval.
In addition, the following notes must be added:
• Briarwood Drive has been dedicated by D. B.
714-48 .
If you have any questions regarding these items, do not

Dear Mr. Wood:
After further consultation from the County Attorney's office it has been
determined that we can not approve this plat administratively as exempt.
This is by virtue of the previous subdivision activity of Tax Map 32G,
Parcel 1, that there can not be exempt divisions because they are to be
deemed a continuation to previous subdivision activity.
I have forwarded copies of the plat to the Virginia Department of
Transportation and the Albemarle County Service Authority for further
review and once we receive comments back from them we can evaluate the
scheduling options for Planning Commission review. I believe we will be
recommending internal access easements between Lots A and B and
restricting Lots A, C, and D from access directly on Route 29. This is
consistent with the staff's position in the 1983 site plan review on
this property.
I realize you were originally informed this plat could be reviewed
administratively as exempt and I apologize for any inconvenience this
may have caused.
