My name is Amie Johnson van Roijen. I was born and raised on the property in question, as were my
brothers, our father, our grandfather and great grandfather. When I got married and started a family
my husband and I decided to move back here because of it’s bucolic and rural nature. Since then the
traffic has increased and the trains have increased, but the area is still green and lush. We know our
neighbors and we are of remarkably like minds in that we love life in the country; hiking, hunting,
gardening, farming, and we feel comfortable with that future. Most of us are in the Agforestral District
or under a Conservation Easement because we hope to protect this way of life. Turning Mooreland into
a camp, no matter how well intentioned, opens it to many more buildings, extensive paving, increased
traffic and parking etc. Once that has happened the rural character is gone and there would be no way
of going back to anything that resembles “Mooreland Farm”.
Thanks for your help,
Amie van Roijen
