Subject: SDP - 2008 -00003 Crown BMW Retail Parts & Service Center SDP - 2008 -00003 Crown BMW Retail Parts & Service Center Pat Lawrence, We have reviewed the above plan and have the following comments: Profiles for the entrances are needed to show that the requirements for the CG -11 standard have been met. Typical sections with pavement designs for the Rte 250 right turn lane need to be shown. As stated on note 7 of the CG -11 standard, the pavement design for the right turn lane and the entrance up to the proposed VDOT right -of -way line must at least match that of the mainline pavement. The pavement design of Route 250 at this location is the following: • Surface: 1.5" of 9.51) • Base: 6" of BM 25A • Subbase: 6" of 21B The required intersection sight distance for Rte 250, a 4 lane divided major road with a design speed of 45 mph, is 580' according to the VDOT Minimum Standards of Entrances to State Highways. On sheet 4 the left sight distance line at the Rte 250 entrance is only 500' long. A sight distance line to the right side at this intersection is not shown. Sight distance lines also need to be shown for the Pantops Park Dr. entrance. There is an existing DI -313 drainage structure on the northeast corner of the site which is not shown on topographical survey. These plans must show all existing and proposed drainage structures. Drainage computations also need to be submitted. We also have the following notes which should be considered: In the near future. Flow Automotive will be constructinL, a right turn lane that will connect to Crown BMW's right turn lane. Coordination between these two construction projects is highly encouraged to produce a smooth, continuous right turn lane. The Countv may reauire that the west side of the site along Pantops Park have sidewalk and ramps.
