Quick indicators:
The presence of minnows, crayfish, or flowing water during drought conditions will be an
automatic indicator of a perennial stream for this preliminary identification. A photo- record
or journal with a year's worth of data or more will also be accepted as an automatic indicator.
Notes on Quick Indicators:
In the plunge pool at the outlet of the road culvert, there were many minnows that
disappeared underneath the headwall after my arrival. There was a clear presence of
flowing water through the entire length of the channel.

Total Score _6 of 9_
A score of 5 or better will be a strong indicator of a perennial stream. In such cases a
detailed assessment should be conducted by a qualified professional. If this is not done,
the stream will be considered perennial.
