1. COMPACTION SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 95% IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR TESTING AND MATERIALS (ASTM) D-1557 AND
WITHIN 2% OF OPTIMUM MOISTURE CONTENT. MAXIMUM LIFT HEIGHT OF
MATERIAL SHALL BE 8 INCHES LOOSE THICKNESS. WHERE DEEMED
NECESSARY BY THE ALBEMARLE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING
(ACDE), COMPACTION TEST RESULTS SHALL BE SUPPLIED PERIODICALLY
DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION TO THE ACDE TO ENSURE
COMPLIANCE WITH THE DESIGN.
2. FILL MATERIAL SHALL BE APPROVED SELECT MATERIAL. AND FREE OF '
TOPSOIL, BRUSH, ROOT MAT AND OTHER ORGANIC MATTER.
PERMEABILITY CHARACTERISTICS SHALL BE ESTABLISHED FOR ALL FILL
MATERIAL AND FOR CORE MATERIALS.
3. OUTLET BARREL SHALL BE REINFORCED CONCRETE PIPE ASTM C76 WITH
O-RING SEAL, BARREL SHALL BE REINFORCED CONCRETE PIPE - CLASS IV.
4. THE PLANTING OF TREES, SHRUBS, OR OTHER DECORATIVE MATERIALS
WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE DAM EMBANKMENT.
5, BASIN SHALL NOT BE DESIGNED OR CONSTRUCTED OVER UTILITY LINES OR
EASEMENT WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN CONSENT OF THE PERTINENT
AUTHORITY. FURTHERMORE, UPON COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION,
UTILITY LINES WILL NOT BE INSTALLED THROUGH EXISTING BASINS WHEN
OTHER ALTERNATIVES EXIST.
6. ANTI -SEEP DIAPHRAGMS ON THE OUTLET PIPES SHALL BE INSTALLED.
DESIGN SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE
DESIGN PROCEDURES.
7. ON EARTH DAMS AN IMPERVIOUS CORE WITH A KEYWAY IS REQUIRED. ON
STRUCTURES OF HOMOGENEOUS DESIGN A CUTOFF TRENCH IS REQUIRED.
CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ARMY CORPS OF
ENGINEERS OR SOIL CONSERVATION SERVICE REQUIREMENTS.
S. SAFETY LEDGE, SIDE AND BERM SLOPES SHALL BE BUILT IN ACCORDANCE
WITH ALBEMARLE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING RETENTION
POND SAFETY LEDGE DETAIL H1.
91. PROVIDE WATERTIGHT JOINTS WITH RUBBER GASKETS EQUAL TO OR
EXCEEDING ASTM C-361 FOR RISER AND BARREL.
110. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM WITH THE STANDARDS AND
SPECIFICATIONS SET FORTH IN THE VIRGINIA EROSION AND SEDIMENT
CONTROL HANDBOOK, THIRD EDITION 1992, AND THE VIRGINIA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ON ROAD AND BRIDGE STANDARDS
AND SPECIFICATIONS, CURRENT EDITION, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
