Narrative
The Towne Place Suites, Pantops is a proposed five -story hotel located at the corner of Town and
Country Lane and Olympia Drive on a 2.4-acre parcel behind the Guadalajara restaurant on Rte. 250
Richmond Road. The site is significantly lower than the grade on Rte. 250 Richmond Road; therefore, the
visibility of the proposed building is limited from the Entrance Corridor.
The building is designed in a contemporary interpretation of Charlottesville's traditional Architecture
style, having building facades divided in base, middle, and top. The materials proposed are a
combination of manufactured stone, clear glazed aluminum windows, storefronts, and synthetic stucco
plaster. The base of the building and the towers are cladded in traditional stone. The middle of the
building is articulated with grey color synthetic stucco, and the top and sides are articulated with light-
colored synthetic plaster.
The center portion of the building is highlighted by a butterfly roof element in antique bronze -colored
metal trim and dark -colored synthetic stucco. A similar signature element is used at the entry canopy.
The mechanical units on the roof are screened with metal screens in a matching grey color.
