Afton Scientific is a small -batch contract manufacturer of sterile injectable human drugs. We fully occupy 30,000 square feet
of owner -occupied space at 2020 Avon Court. The parcel is zoned Industrial (L-1). Afton Scientific has 17 years of
continuous operations at this address. We employ —65 persons.
Physical Process: Our manufacturing process involves preparation of very small batches of liquid drug product: 1-300 liters
in single use, disposable containers and filling the product into sterile glass vials for human use. Whether required or not, as a
precaution, all product contact materials and containers are automatically bundled and shipped for appropriate disposal.
Major equipment: For sterilization, we use dry heat oven and steam autoclaves, similar to a hospital. Smaller packaging
and labeling lines are also used. No major equipment are located outside.
We have addressed the performance standards of Zoning Ordinance Section 18-4.14:
Noise: Our operation does not create sound or impact noise levels in excess of the values specified in Section 4.14.1. We
maintain conventional building air handling equipment for a building this size and operate several back-up generators when
necessary. We are surrounded by commercial property, woods and Avon Street extended. We receive routine truck deliveries
of merchandise.
Vibration: We operate no significant equipment that would generate ground vibration
Glare: Our operation is completely contained within the building. The interior lighting associated with this operation does
not produce glare that is visible beyond the lot line. The parking lot has conventional lighting for safety of our employees and
visitors. There are no lighted signs.
Smell or Air Pollution: There is no emission of smoke, particulate, odor or gaseous pollutants. No combustion occurs on the
site other than natural gas used for boiler and building heating
Water Pollution: Afton Scientific utilizes licensed third -patty waste management companies for property transport and
disposal of any hazardous waste from manufacturing and analytical lab.
Radioactivity: There are no radioactive emissions.
Electrical Interference: Afton Scientific does not operate any equipment that would generate known electrical disturbances.
