Part C: Description of Proposal
Describe your proposal.Attach a separate sheet if more space is needed.
Project is described as an addition of approximately 3500 sf and renovation of approximately 5200 sf of the existing North Garden
Volunteer Fire Station located at 4907 Plank Road near the intersection of Plank Road and Route 29 South. The addition will house
fire fighting apparatus on the lower level and bunk and dayroom on the upper level This addition is being undertaken in anticipation
of the arrival of full time fire fighting staff The renovation will provide additional support space for fire fighting equipment and training.
An elevator is being installed to provide access from the parking lot to the existing meeting room on the upper floor.
Exterior materials will match as closely as possible the existing consisting of face brick veneer and a standing seam mansard
roof/canopy Windows will be anodized aluminum(thermally broken)to match the existing. The existing apparatus doors will be
reinstalled in new openings The front entrance doors(shifted to allow modification to the existing stair)will be replaced with new
aluminum entrance doors and the front porch will be widened to facilitate this change.
A new concrete exterior stair will be added behind a modified retaining wall(brick clad)to facilitate exterior circulation from the lower
site to the upper site.

Library.
• Digital submittals are encouraged,but paper submittals are accepted.
• Paper submittals: Each application package must contain 1 folded copy of all plans and documents being submitted,
and 1 set of building material samples (if indicated on the corresponding submittal checklist.) All submittal items,
including building material samples, become the property of Albemarle County. Applicants are encouraged to
maintain duplicate copies of all submittal items in their own files. A pdf copy of all submittal items is requested.
• Digital submittals: One set of building material samples may be required. See the corresponding submittal checklist
for requirements.All submittal items,including building material samples,become the property of Albemarle County.

copies of the submittal may be requested during the review period.
