You may consider this letter your Certificate of Appropriateness. Note that Zoning, building, and other approvals may still be pending for your sign permit. This approval is only for the Architectural Review Board/Entrance Corridor. This approval is specifically conditioned on the following: 1. Execution of the design indicated on the final approved plans, attachments, materials, samples, and other submittal items presented. 2. The background of the tenant panel must be opaque. Please also note the following: 1. This ARB approval is only one approval required prior to installing a sign. An approved sign permit is also required. DO NOT proceed with the construction or installation of your sign until you have received your signed permit. If you have questions about the status of a sign permit application, please contact the permit intake staff at 296-5832. 2. Any changes in the approved design will require a new application, a new fee, and additional review. 3. "Opaque" means that light will not pass through the material. Consequently, the color of the background portion of the face of the sign will not be visible when the sign is internally illuminated at night. If you have any question about this requirement for an opaque background, do not proceed with the construction or installation of the sign until you have spoken with County staff. If you have any questions concerning this action, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Margaret Maliszewski Planning Manager, Department of Community Development Albemarle County 434-296-5832 x3276 Attach.: sign drawings approved for the ARB Margaret Maliszewski Planning Manager, Department of Community Development Albemarle County
