Homestay Application supplement for #1 Lewis Mountain Parkway
Given the unique characteristics of this property at 1 Lewis Mountain Parkway, the following is
intended to make the homestay plan and the Homestay application clearer.
I am the contract purchaser of this property and will live in the house upon closing the purchase
whenever guests will be at the house. In the future we will have a resident manager on site,
pending Board of Supervisors approval. My son, Anthony Woodard, also lives about 10 miles
from the property and will be the responsible person in the event I am out of town.
In the main house, there are 11 bedrooms called Chambers shown on the attached floor plans.
We understand that only 5 bedrooms may be used for homestay visits at any time in this main
house. In the future upon approval of the additional homestay visits, we may include additional
homestay bedrooms in the adjacent guest house.
The parking area is currently overgrown with grass on the west lawn, and that will remain the
parking area until future improvements are made to the property to visually isolate the parking
from the main lawn and entrance area. This parking area is shown on the attached arial view of
the main house.
The property is uniquely situated at the top of Lewis Mountain and is several hundred feet from
adjacent properties. Exterior lighting is minimal at this time, and any added light will be
shielded and not affect adjacent properties.
There are two entrance roads to the house, one that comes through the Lewis Mountain
neighborhood, and one that is off Route 250 near the UVA police station. These are shown on
the attached arial map.
The house is spectacular, the views are unbelievable, and the property offers the opportunity to
be enjoyed in its current state. Nonetheless, this property has been neglected for many years
other than a new roof and mechanical systems. Over the next few years, it is our intention to
revitalize the historic character of the property, enhance the landscaping and grounds, and
make the property usable and accessible for more people to enjoy. We look forward to
working with the county and neighbors to find the most appropriate ways to make this
possible.
