Parents will walk down to the preschool to pick up at 12:30pm for half day or 3:30pm or 5:30pm for full day. Teachers will park on the side parking area behind Mountain Plain Baptist Church. The maximum capacity of 35 children will occupy the preschool's first floor and lower floor with a walkout basement. Children will bring prepackaged snacks and lunch from home. Daylily will play an essential role in the community because it will prepare children socially, cognitively, and physically for kindergarten. The children will learn reading, art, science, math, and social skills in a safe, nurturing environment. They will be actively involved daily in small group learning centers and instruction. As a reading specialist, I will individualize the daily lessons for all enrolled children and implement the four to five year old children's instruction. The aftercare and summer programs will/may include children from ages 16 months to twelve years of age. The intention is to serve in the western Albemarle community. The preschool will provide a local option for a fast growing area. The preschool will be operated from an existing building with no exterior or parking lot changes planned. A preschool in Western Albemarle will help reduce traffic from the Crozet area to the city of Charlottesville.
