The Department of Transportation, Charlottesville Residency Transportation and Land Use
Section has reviewed the Ragged Mountain Drive - RP - Dated 06-30-2022 as submitted by 30
Scale Engineering and find the following:
1. Please remove all Structure and Bridge Standard Details from the plans. S&B standard
details are to be referenced in plan notes: The Standard Drawings contained in the VDOT
Road & Bridge Standards are signed and sealed engineering drawings that are
copyrighted materials of VDOT and the Commonwealth of Virginia. VDOT's policy is to
offer the Standard Drawings in a secure electronic format and each Standard is available
on this website. Plan assemblies using the Road & Bridge Standards shall reference each
standard used. Inserting the Standard Drawings into VDOT, locality, or private
development plan assemblies, or modifying the Standard Drawings in any way, is not
permitted.
2. Please show proposed construction per VDOT RDM Appendix F, page F-119, Figure 4-9
commercial entrance designs along highways with shoulders.
o The curb radii should be offset from the EP.
o Additional asphalt may be required to meet the RDM requirements.
o Radii, width, and angle should be in accordance with subdivision street design guild
in the RDM appendix B(1).
3. Drainage should be carried in a gutter pan, such as a CG-6 or CG-7 design.
4. Drainage calculations should be submitted for review for outlet of channelized stormwater
flows for 2 and 10 year events.
5. Is there a planting plan associated with this project? If so, please include the planting plan
for review.
6. Please note on the plan: A Temporary Traffic Control Plan (TTC) is required to obtain a
permit to work within VDOT Right of Way. The TTC shall be prepared by an Advanced
VirginiaDOT.org

Work Zone Certified person, certification card and verification number is required on the
TTC submittal.
7. Note that the final plan must show conformance with the VDOT Road Design Manual
Appendices B(1) and F, as well as any other applicable standards, regulations or other
requirements.
A VDOT Land Use Permit will be required prior to any work within the right-of-way. The
owner/developer must contact the VDOT Charlottesville Residency Land Use Section at (434)
422-9399 for information pertaining to this process.
