RE: SP 2005-030 Michael Caplin Boat Dock - Sign #47-(TMP 45-187)
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Caplin:
On January 4, 2006, the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors took action on SP 2005-030 to allow a
private boat dock on the South Fork Rivanna Reservoir on Tax Map 45 Parcel67A (to serve the Caplin
property - Tax Map 45 Parcel 187) in the Rio Magisterial District. This special use permit was approved
based on the following conditions:
I. There shall be no lighting within twenty-five (25) horizontal feet of the Reservoir, measured
from the elevation of the normal pool, which is Elevation 382. See Attachment H;
2. There shall be no removal of vegetation or earth disturbance within the two hundred (200)-
foot buffer associated with the installation of the boat dock. The stream buffer is measured
from the edge of the floodplain, which is Elevation 390. See Attachment H; and
3. There shall be no other structures, such as decking or stairs, constructed in the two hundred
(200)-foot stream buffer.
Please be advised that although the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors took action on the
project noted above, no uses on the property as approved above may lawfully begin until all
applicable approvals have been received and conditions have been met. This includes:
· compliance with conditions of the SPECIAL USE PERMIT; and
· approval of a ZONING COMPLIANCE CLEARANCE.
In the event that the use, structure or activity for which this special use permit is issued is not commenced
within twenty-four (24) months from the date of Board approval, it shall be deemed abandoned and the

permit terminated. The term "commenced" means "construction of any structure necessary to the use of
the permit."
