RE: 999 Rio Road East Community Meeting I Modification of Zoning Map Amendment
Dear Neighbor,
We invite you to share comments and ask questions regarding our request to amend the existing
999 Rio Road East Zoning Map Amendment. On March 4, 2020, property located at the comer
of Rio Road East and Belvedere Boulevard was rezoned ftom R-4 to Neighborhood Model District
(NMD). The NMD rezoning envisioned a mixed -use development, consisting of up to 6,000
square feet of commercial space, a 14-unit multifamily building, and an I I -unit cottage courtyard
in the back acre of the Property (the "2020 Rezoning"). The current amendment to the 2020
Rezoning would allow ten (10) additional residential units, eliminate the commercial portion of
the project and revise the layout.
The property has an address of 999 Rio Road East, is designated on Albemarle County tax maps
as parcel 06100-00-00-154130, and consists of 1.947 acres.
We invite you to ask questions and share comments about the proposed project, County application
review procedures, and relevant regulations and policies of the County applicable to the proposed
project at a community meeting. The meeting will be held at the Albemarle County Office
Building, Room 235, located at 401 McIntire Road, Charlottesville, Virginia 22902 on Thursday,
October 27, 2022 at 6:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Places29 Rio Community Advisory
Committee meeting.
