My wife, Wren, and I own land that adjoins the Carroll's. My wife and I own Tax map 118, Parcel 27D I understand from Mr. Edwards that the County Attorney has ruled that the original recording of my ownership was done incorrectly. I have been asked to sign a plat developed for the Carroll to Edwards property transfer. I've been told that by signing this plat, the newly reported error in recording of my property will be fixed. I am surprised that I have not been contacted directly by the County about this. I need to know more about the error in my property recording that the County believes it has found and the implications of signing the plat, as I have been asked to do. I also need to be sure that the multiple adjustments in my property boundary since 1980 are correctly treated. Mr. Edwards has emailed a copy of the plats from his surveyor. To help me gain some background on what I have been asked to do, could you email to me planning staff reports for this property transfer and the finding by the County Attorney of the error in recording of my property ownership? From: Ellie Ray [mailto:eray(aalbemarle.orq] Sent: Wednesday, October 09, 2013 9:10 AM To: Tim Stanley; Charles Subject: RE: SUB201300127 Dawson Farm - Rural Hi Tim, I'm not sure which tax maps you're looking at, but in our GIS system it says Samuel Miller: http://gisweb.albemarle.org/GISWeb/Propertvinfo.aspx?pin=118000000027E0&theme=Summary If you go to "other parcel characteristics" in the drop down box at the top, it says Samuel Miller is the district. Our GIS isn't always 100% accurate, but that's the only thing I can go by. As for the acreage, I believe your breakdown is correct, but the issue in my comments is that some of those transfers might not have been "legal" subdivisions. Specifically the 9.383 acre "Parcel 4" and the 1.775 acre boundary line adjustment. As Mr. Edwards said, the County Attorney's Office is currently reviewing the deeds and plats that were recorded to determine whether or not they are violations. I spoke with Martha Carroll about the possible solutions for "parcel 4" should they determine it is a violation and I think everything is solvable....we're just waiting on official word as to what plats, if any, are actual violations so we'll know how to move forward. I don't think there are any "deal- breakers", it's just a matter of making sure we correct any past violations if they exist. Fe&free to get in touch if you have any other questions or concerns.
