The contractor is installing riprap next Thursday. He is also doing his bio-filter plantings after the riprap. Thanks, Jeremy Glode Engineering Inspector Albemarle County jglode ftalbamarle.org (c)434-989-1534 From: Jeremy Glode Sent: Friday, August 29, 2014 4:35 PM To: Blake Abplanalp Cc: Rissmeyer, Don Subject: RE: Cale Parking Lot- WP0201400010 Don, Excuse me as I did not receive your call—I've been in the rural areas the past couple days and at times it's hard to catch a cell signal. Attached are the photos from last week. I agree with installing the Al rip rap (along with the other recommendations), as that is what is called for on the plans and installing it everywhere designated on the plans. As I mentioned before, if the smaller stones are to be used, we will need to have a plan amendment submitted stating that the smaller stone can be used. Thanks, enjoy the weekend. Thanks, Blake From: Rissmeyer, Don [mailto:drissmever©amtengineering.com] Sent:Thursday, August 28, 2014 3:56 PM To: Blake Abplanalp Cc: Farrell,John Subject: Cale Parking Lot-WPO201400010 Blake, I tried calling Jeremy to discuss the rip-rap flumes earlier today, but he didn't answer the phone. I think the best solution might be to direct Envirostruct to install the Class Al rip-rap, especially if the smaller river rock has already been evidenced as mobile. I haven't seen the pictures of the erosion and/or rock movement that was noted in the emails, and wanted to ask if you could confirm that you want the larger rip-rap before I start coordination with Envirostruct on this issue. I also wanted to make sure there are only 2 remaining issues on the punch-list by either AMT or the county: . W..- rrt 1e$4 .. //,e ,:ma,, Let me know. Don Rissmeyer, P.E.,CFM Associate A. I don't think Envirostruct is using the roof stone as intended. From: Jeremy Glode Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2014 4:57 PM To: Blake Abplanalp Subject: Cale Parking Lot - WPO201400010 Blake, We did an inspection at the Cale parking lot job and one of the issues raised referred to the stone being used for the rock channels leading into the biofilters and the rock outfall channels. Currently a smaller stone is being used at these locations, river rocks maybe, instead of the rip rap called for on the plans. The plans call for class Al rip rap—which is the large sturdy stone. Everett at Envirostruct said that he received the go-ahead to use the river rock instead of the rip rap. A couple things: 2 • 1. I would worry about the smaller tone's ability to handle a large rain event"'rf there is a large rain event, there is a good chance the smaller stones will be washed out into the biofilter, and down the slope below the outfall channel. It may require more maintenance. 2. If the smaller stones are to be used,we will need to have an engineer submit a plan amendment stating that the smaller stone can be used. Thanks. Rock, soil, and straw are beginning to contaminate the mixture. Please let me know which way we plan to proceed with this.
