Decel/Pullover lanes

In response to your request concerning the above referenced matter, I offer
the following comments.
On July 20, 1977, the Board of Supervisors approved a rezoning for Jarman
Gap Estates with several conditions. One condition required that the three
proposed "entrances are each to have a 12-foot wide deceleration lane, 75
feet in length, with a 25-foot taper." The 12 foot wide deceleration lane or
pull-over lane was added by the staff based on standards that had been
followed in the past.
It is my understanding that you feel that the width of the decel lane can be
reduced to 9-10 feet, provided the length of the lane is increased. If my
assumption is correct, please advise in writing for our files.
