HomeMy WebLinkAboutARB202300012 Correspondence 2023-01-24waterstreet December 5, 2022 Mr. Khris Taggart Albemarle County ARB Staff Liaison RE: Center Church Charlotteville Major Site Plan Amendment ARB Narrative Khris, As we discussed in the Pre -Application Meeting, Center Church Charlottesville has begun operations in the former Freestyle Outdoor retail space at 475 Westfield Road. Center Church is proposing to add a 40 space parking lot and fenced, child play area behind the building, some minor modifications to the existing from parking lot, and would like to change the exterior color of the existing building. The TMP is 61 WO-01-OA-00200. It is zoned C1 Commercial with Entrance Corridor (EC) Overlay District. Due to the EC Overlay, a Major Site Plan Amendment is required and has been prepared and submitted along with this narrative. Most of the proposed improvements will be screened from the Entrance Corridor by the existing building. Landscape screening is proposed around the perimeter of the rear parking lot where it is visible from the Entrance Corridor. The proposed fencing around the play area will be black, metal picket in style, as shown in the plan set. The proposed modifications to the front parking lot will provide a couple of extra parking spaces and an ADA ramp into the building. The scale of these front parking lot improvements will be imperceptible from the Entrance Corridor. Currently, the building exterior is a solid tan color. Center Church would like to change the exterior to color off-white with black accents like the image below.
