Jonathan - I am sending this email as a follow up to our phone conversation just now. The following issue remains to be
addressed for my administrative approval.
Sign Lighting — bulb type and wattage
Revise the sign drawing to state that an LED bulb is proposed for the lamp fixtures, assuming that is correct. If not
correct, indicate what the bulb type is. The web site for the Baselite (see page 2 of the Baselite link below) appears to
indicate that LED bulb wattage is limited to 10 watts. Please correct me if I am wrong. Your sign drawing (attached)
states that a 35 watt bulb is proposed.
Note: Architectural Review Board Sign Guidelines require that the external illumination of a sign be with a bulb that is
"white light" — versus a bulb that is a yellow /orange light like RPS bulbs. Also, the our zoning ordinance requires that the
bulb be under 3,000 lumens in intensity so it is not required to meet the dark sky full cutoff requirement.

RE: ARB- 2014 -118: Rocksalt Signs
Dear Mr. Hoffman,
I have reviewed the above -noted sign application. The following revisions are requested to make the
proposal consistent with the Entrance Corridor Sign Guidelines and approved Comprehensive Sign
Criteria (CSC) for the Shops at Stonefield.
1. Sign Drawing Label:
a. Revise sign drawing label for "New Proposed East Elevation" to read "New Proposed
Northeast (front) Elevation".
b. Revise the sign drawing label for "New Proposed North Elevation" to read "New
Proposed Northwest (side) Elevation ".
2. Sign Colors:
a. Revise the sign drawing to indicate the Pantone color number for the proposed Duranodic
Bronze letter face. Approved CSC allow for Warm Gray 1 — 11.
3. Sign Lighting:
a. Revise the sign drawing to include:
i. A note indicating the wall signs are to be externally illuminated, assuming they
are.
ii. A note indicating the manufacturer and model number of the light fixture.
iii. The following note: "The light fixture is to be shielded and positioned so that it
illuminates only the face of the sign."
iv. The location of the proposed wall light fixtures.
v. The following note if LED illumination is proposed: "The level of illumination
provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single
stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon.
b. Revise the lighting cutsheet provided by indicating all of the options chosen including
model number, fixture finish, light source (bulb type /wattage) and mounting type; black
and bronze are considered appropriate colors.
Please respond by email within 15 days of the date of this letter indicating whether you will or will not
proceed with these revisions. Your decision to make the revisions will suspend the 60 -day review period
associated with your original submittal. If you choose to complete the revisions, please email the revised
drawings to me. If you choose not to proceed with these revisions, staff will be unable to approve your
application. Failure to respond to this letter shall be presumed to be a request to proceed to action on the
application without further revisions.
If you have any questions about this action, please contact me as soon as possible. I look forward to
receiving your revisions and completing this review with an approval letter.
Sincerely,
Brent Nelson
