1. THE OWNER AND/OR CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
OBTAINING ALL NECESSARY PERMITS, INSPECTIONS, BONDS AND
OTHER APPROVAL RELATED ITEMS WITH THE COUNTY OF
ALBEMARLE AND VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
(VDOT) AS APPLICABLE IN ACCORDANCE WITH LOCAL AND
STATE POLICY. NO CONSTRUCTION SHALL COMMENCE UNTIL ALL
SUCH PERMITS HAVE BEEN SECURED.
2. PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF ANY CONSTRUCTION WITHIN
ANY EXISTING PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY,: INCLUDING CONNECTION TO
ANY EXISTING ROAD, A PERMIT FOR SAID CONSTRUCTION SHALL
BE OBTAINED FROM THE VA DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION (VDOT).
THIS PLAN AS DRAWN MAY NOT ACCURATELY THE REQUIREMENTS
OF THE PERMIT. WHERE ANY DISCREPANCIES OCCUR, THE
REQUIREMENTS OF THE PERMIT ISSUED BY VDOT SHALL GOVERN.
3. METHODS AND MATERIALS USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF SITE
IMPROVEMENTS FOR THIS PROJECT SHALL CONFORM TO THE
CURRENT CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE
COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE AND THE VA DEPT. OF TRANSPORTATION.
4. SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL MEASURES SHALL
BE PROVIDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPROVED SOIL EROSION
& SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN AND SHALL BE INSTALLED PRIOR TO
ANY CLEARING, GRADING OR OTHER CONSTRUCTION.
5. ALL SLOPES AND DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE FERTILIZED,
SEEDED AND MULCHED. UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE
COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE, MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE FILL OR CUT
SLOPE IS 2:1. WHERE REASONABLY OBTAINABLE LESSER SLOPES
OF 4:1 OR BETTER ARE TO BE ACHIEVED.
6. ALL TRAFFIC CONTROL SIGNS SHALL CONFORM WITH THE VA
MANUAL FOR UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES.
7. ALL EXCAVATION FOR UNDERGROUND PIPE INSTALLATION MUST
COMPLY WITH O.S.H.A. STANDARDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
.INDUSTRY (29 CFR PART 1926).
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE PROPOSED LAYOUT WITH
ITS RELATIONSHIP TO THE EXISTING SITE SURVEY. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS, SITE
CONDITIONS, AND MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS AND SHALL
NOTIFY THE OWNER,DESIGN/BUILDER AND ENGINEER OF ANY
ERRORS, OMISSIONS OR DISCREPANCIES BEFORE COMMENCING
OR PROCEEDING WITH WORK.
9. DEVIATIONS OR CHANGES FROM THESE PLANS WILL NOT BE
ALLOWED UNLESS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER/OWNER/DESIGN-
BUILDER AND COUNTY OF ALBEMARLE.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPPLYING ALL
UTILITY COMPANIES WITH COPIES OF PLANS THAT HAVE
BEEN APPROVED AND ADVISING THEM THAT ALL GRADING SHALL
CONFORM TO THE APPROVED PLANS, AND FURTHER THAT THE
UTILITY COMPANIES SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HONORING
THESE PLANS AND THE FINISHED GRADES IN THE INSTALLATION
OF THEIR UTILITY LINES.
11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE EXPLORATORY EXCAVATIONS AND
LOCATE EXISTING UTILITIES SUFFICIENTLY AHEAD OF
CONSTRUCTION TO PERMIT REVISIONS TO PLANS IF NECESSARY.
THE LOCATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES ACROSS OR ALONG
THE LINE OF THE PROPOSED WORK ARE NOT NECESSARILY SHOWN
ON THE PLANS AND WHERE SHOWN ARE ONLY APPROXIMATELY
CORRECT. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ON HIS OWN INITIATIVE
LOCATE ALL UNDERGROUND LINES AND STRUCTURES AS
NECESSARY PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION.
12. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO TAKE PRECAUTIONARY
MEASURES TO PROTECT THE UTILITIES SHOWN HEREON AND ANY
OTHER EXISTING UTILITIES NOT OF RECORD OR NOT SHOWN ON
THESE PLANS.
13. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR NOTIFYING "MISS
UTILITY' (1-800-552---7001) PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
14. PAVED, RIP -RAP OR STABILIZATION MAT LINED DITCH OR CHANNEL
MAY BE REQUIRED WHEN IN THE OPINION OF THE ALBEMARLE
COUNTY DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING, OR THE DIRECTOR'S DESIGNEE,
IT IS DEEMED NECESSARY TO STABILIZE A DRAINAGE CHANNEL.
15. CONTRACTORS SHALL NOTIFY OPERATORS WHO MAINTAIN
UNDERGROUND UTILITY LINES IN THE AREA OF PROPOSED
EXCAVATION OR BLASTING AT LEAST TWO WORKING DAYS, BUT NOT
MORE THAN TEN WORKING DAYS, PRIOR TO COMMENCEMENT OF
EXCAVATION OR DEMOLITION.
16. ELECTRICAL AND TELEPHONE SERVICE TO BE ENGINEERED BY
VA. POWER CO. AND CENTEL, RESPECTIVELY.
17. AN APPROVED SET OF PLANS AND ALL APPLICABLE PERMITS
MUST BE AVAILABLE AT THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
18.` BEFORE BURNING, BLASTING, OR TRANSPORTATION OR `STORAGE
OF EXPLOSIVES, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL REQUIRED
PERMITS.
19. CONTRACTOR AGREES THAT HE SHALL ASSUME SOLE AND
. COMPLETE RESPONSIBILITY FOR JOB SITE CONDITIONS DURING
.THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION OF THIS PROJECT, INCLUDING
SAFETY OF ALL PERSONS AND PROPERTY; THAT THIS
REQUIREMENT SHALL APPLY CONTINUOUSLY AND NOT BE
LIMITED TO NORMAL WORKING HOURS; AND THAT THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL DEFEND, INDEMNIFY AND HOLD THE OWNER,ARCHITECT

SOIL EROSION & SEDIMENT CONTROL NOTES
1. SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE VIRGINIA EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
HANDBOOK AND SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED PRIOR TO OR AS THE
FIRST STEP IN ANY LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITY.
2. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE
MAINTAINED AND REPAIRED AS NEEDED UNTIL ALL DISTURBED
AREAS HAVE BEEN PERMANENTLY STABILIZED, MAINTENANCE AND
REPAIR SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE METHODS OUTLINED
IN THE VIRGINIA .EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL HANDBOOK FOR
EACH CONTROL MEASURE SPECIFIED.
3. EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS SHALL BE INSPECTED AT LEAST
TWICE WEEKLY, AFTER EACH RAINFALL AND AT LEAST ONCE DAILY

MUD FROM TRUCKS AND/OR OTHER EQUIPMENT PRIOR TO ENTERING
PUBLIC ROADS. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S
RESPONSIBILITY TO CLEAN ROADS, ALLAY DUST, AND TAKE
WHATEVER MEASURES NECESSARY TO INSURE THAT THE ROADS AR:E
MAINTAINED IN A CLEAN, MUD AND DUST --FREE CONDITION AT ALL
TIMES.
10. FULL REFERENCE IS MADE TO THE SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT

11. ANY SEDIMENT WHICH ACCUMULATES IN THE PROPOSED SEDIMENT
