SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
1. SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS SHALL BE INSTALLED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE VIRGINIA EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL .
HANDBOOK AND SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED PRIOR TO OR AS THE FIRST STEP IN
ANY LAND DISTURBING ACTIVITY.
2. ALL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES SHALL BE MAINTAINED
AND REPAIRED AS NEEDED UNTIL ALL DISTURBED AREAS HAVE BEEN
PERMANENTLY STABILIZED. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR SHALL BE IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE METHODS OUTLINED IN THE VIRGINIA EROSION AND
SEDIMENT CONTROL HANDBOOK FOR EACH CONTROL MEASURE SPECIFIED.
3. EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROLS SHALL BE INSPECTED AT LEAST TWICE
WEEKLY, AFTER EACH RAINFALL AND AT LEAST ONCE DAILY DURING
PROLONGED RAINFALL.
4. PERMANENT AND/OR TEMPORARY SOIL STABILIZATION SHALL BE APPLIED TO
ALL DISTURBED AREAS WITHIN 7 DAYS AFTER FINAL GRADE IS ESTABLISHED
ON ANY PORTION OF THE SITE. ANY DISTURBED AREAS WHERE
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES WILL BE HALTED FOR LONGER THAN 30 DAYS
SHALL BE STABILIZED WITHIN 7 DAYS OF THE LAST CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY.
5. SURFACE ROUGHENING (E&S STD. AND SPEC. 1.60) SHALL BE PROVIDED ON
ALL SLOPES GREATER THAN 3:1.
6. PERMANENT SEEDING, INCLUDING LIMING AND FERTILIZATION AS REQUIRED,
SHALL BE APPLIED TO ALL DISTURBED AREAS NOT PAVED OR NOT PLANTED

8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME ALL LIABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR
EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL MEASURES, AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO
PROTECT ADJOINING BUILDING STRUCTURES AND FOUNDATIONS, PUBLIC
INFRASTRUCTURES, VEHICULAR AND PEDESTRIAN CIRCULATION AREAS AND
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ADEQUATE MEANS OF CLEANING MUD
FROM TRUCKS AND/OR OTHER EQUIPMENT PRIOR TO ENTERING PUBLIC

10. FULL REFERENCE IS MADE TO THE SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL
NARRATIVE, DATED 3 - 2 - 91 , AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE SOIL
EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN.
12. ANY SEDIMENT WHICH ACCUMULATES IN THE PROPOSED SEDIMENT TRAPS
AND/OR SEDIMENT BASINS SHALL BE CLEANED OUT AND PLACED AT A
SUITABLE LOCATION WHEN THE SITE HAS BEEN STABILIZED FROM FURTHER
SOIL EROSION.
13. SEDIMENT BUILD-UP IN CULVERTS SHALL BE CLEANED OUT AND PLACED AT A
