RE: SDP202200037 UVA Riverside Letter of Revision Request
Dear Ms. Gleason:
We are submitting this letter of revision for UVA Riverside to address an existing drainage issue at the
front of Bldg #2331 that was not communicated in the original design of the minor site plan
amendment. In existing conditions, the front of this building is inundated by standing water during large
storm events due to the slope of the existing parking lot towards the building without any proper
overland flow relief. To alleviate this issue, we are proposing a vehicular rated trench drain to be
installed at the front of these parking spaces and outfall to the existing inlet located in the swale to the
east of the building.
In conversations with the owner about this trench drain, it was decided to no longer include the three
spaces to the east of this proposed trench drain as part of the project improvements. These three
spaces require a significant cost in order to retrofit the existing drainage structure, install a new inlet,
and import fill to the site. By removing these three spaces, it helps to offset the additional project costs
for the proposed trench drain.
