Dear Ms. Fealey:
I have reviewed your request for the above -noted sign. Because this sign has an opaque background and otherwise meets
ARB design guidelines, I am able to review this proposal administratively for the ARB. I have approved a sign of the
design outlined below. You may consider this letter your Certificate of Appropriateness.
FREESTANDING SIGN
Type: Monument
Materials: Routed aluminum cabinet with recessed white acrylic letters mounted on brick base.
Location: Northeast corner of the intersection of Seminole Lane and Seminole Trail (Route 29 North) setback 5' -0" from
the public right -of -way.
Mounting: Bolted to brick base.
Overall Sign Height: 6'- 41/2"
Panel Size: 7' -4" Wide x 3' -7" High x 1'4' Deep.
Text: "Riverside"
"Center"
Colors: Cabinet background: Bronze aluminum; text: White; brick: Old Virginia Monticello.
Graphic: None.
Illumination: Internal with opaque background. Only "Riverside Center" text shall illuminate. Cabinet shall be
constructed such that no light spills outward from the top, bottom, sides or back.
Landscaping: As per approved landscape plan.
This approval is predicated on the fact that the design and materials, as proposed and listed above, will be used. The
acceptance of approval implies that the applicant has agreed to execute the design as indicated on the submittal items
presented, and as listed above. Any changes in the approved sign or materials will require an amendment to the
application and must be reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1. This approval does not include any window signs. If window signs are proposed, a separate application
must be made, reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board.
2. Please note that "opaque" means that light will not pass through the material. Consequently, the color of
the background portion of the face of the sign will not be visible when the sign is internally illuminated at
night. If you have any question about this requirement for an opaque background, do not proceed with the
construction or installation of the sign until you have spoken with County staff.
