Hi Kendra - At the April 7, 2008 meeting, the Architectural Review Board voted that proposed
amendments to the Timberwood Grill site and building development could be reviewed/approved
administratively by staff due to the site's distance from the Route 29N Entrance Corridor and the extent
of the proposal. A Certificate of Appropriateness approval letter can be issued once the following
comments have been adequately addressed.
1. Provide revised drawings addressing all of the comments issued by the Site Review Committee
concerning the Major Amendment, SDP 08 -54. Of particular note, VDOT comments of 4/14/08
state that the proposed plantings along the southwest edge of the parking lot are located within the
sight easement and need to be removed.
2. Revise the building elevations to indicate the proposed color for the trellis structure. Indicate the
proposed brand name and color of the stain that is to be used and provide a sample.
3. Site Plan Sheet 5, Landscape & Lighting contains the note Existing Awning to be extended to edge
of patio — this conflicts with proposed trellis in this location. Revise the drawing to indicate the
proposed use of the trellis structure in this location
4. Revise Sheets 3 Amended Site Plan and 5 Landscape and Lighting by clearly labeling the
proposed building addition and the proposed vestibule enclosure.
Please provide:
1. Two copies of revised drawings addressing the aforementioned comments.
2. A memo indicating specifically how the condition has been satisfied. If changes other than those requested
have been made, specifically identify those changes in the memo, also. Clear, specific, and accurate
information will facilitate the review of your submittal.
3. The attached "Revised Application Submittal" form. This form must be returned with your revisions to
ensure proper tracking and distribution.
When staffs review of this information indicates that all conditions of approval have been met, a Certificate of
Appropriateness may be issued. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Subject: ARB Amendment to a Site Development Plan
Brent,
I am an architect working on putting together a submittal package for
an Amendment to a Site Development Plan for the Timberwood Grill.
We will be submitting by the March 31st deadline for the May 19th meeting
Timberwood Grill is an existing restaurant, built 2 years ago, off 29 north.
The owners are proposing a small addition on the back of the existing structure
to add more dining space, as well as adding some parking in the rear.
I have reviewed the SDP Requirements Checklist and had the following questions:
- Would the board prefer to see color elevations, in addition to a color perspective,
or are black and white elevations acceptable?
When we proceed to the building permit phase, does Albemarle County require the construction
drawings be stamped by a licensed Virginia Architect? I am currently licensed in Washington DC.
Thanks for your time.
Sincerely,
Kendra Guiffre'
