ARB Meeting Date June 16, 2008 Staff Contact Margaret Maliszewski PROJECT HISTORY • The ARB held a work session on this item on May 5, 2008. At that time, it was the consensus of the ARB that the screening options presented were not appropriate and additional options that more closely reflect the building's original design were required. • On May 19 another work session was held. The applicant made a presentation of possible alternatives for reducing the visibility of the equipment. It was the consensus of the ARB that it would be suitable to use: 1. copper in the front, 2. the "J" shaped structure around the generators, 3. the stepped -down height where the compressor are placed as long as it looks right from the east, 4. brick on both sides of the screen wall; and 5. stucco for the cornice. • On May 29 staff notified the ARB by email that mock -ups of the proposed screening had been installed and the ARB members were asked to view the site. • At the June 2, 2008 meeting, the ARB briefly discussed the mock -ups as an "other business" item. In summary, there were still reservations about the screening viewed when traveling eastbound on the EC. ARB 6/16/2008 VNB work session - Page 1
