Dear Greg,
Your application for new Porsche signs cannot be approved at this time. As we discussed on the telephone
on July 21, 2008, it was unclear in your recent submittal which of the illustrated signs you were actually
proposing at this time. To clarify the proposal, we agreed that you would:
1. Show the proposed signs with the existing signs to remain on your plan and elevation drawings.
2. Clearly identify on the drawings which signs are proposed and which signs are existing.
3. Delete from the drawings new signs that you are not submitting for review at this time.
4. Send a photo of an example of an existing Porsche channel letter sign on the expanded raceway to
clarify the proposal.
Following our telephone conversation, I was able to review your submittal in more detail. The following
items need to be addressed so that we can complete our review:
1. Your Porsche monument sign is proposed at 14' 9'/2" tall. The maximum allowable height is 12'.
Please revise your proposal to meet all ordinance requirements, ARB guidelines, and checklist
requirements.
2. The colors proposed for the signs are not completely clear from the drawings. Please clearly
identify each color on the drawing. Provide accurate physical samples for each proposed color.
3. The 3M 230 -33 red vinyl color appears to be the same shade of red the ARB has not approved for
several signs in the past. Please choose a darker shade of red.
4. Please identify the material of the faces of the Porsche channel letters on the drawings.
Please also note that new signs are considered in relation to the building, the site and other existing signs to
ensure compatibility. Consequently, if these Porsche signs are approved, all signs proposed in the future
will be considered in terms of their compatibility with the Porsche signs.
Also, you've clarified that you are proposing 2 wall signs and those walls signs are for 2 different
buildings, and that you are proposing one freestanding sign and that sign is to be located on a parcel where
no building currently stands. The existing auto showroom building that fronts Route 250 is on parcel 15D.
The maintenance building that is located behind (south of) the showroom is located on parcel 14D. The
parcel without a building, located just west of the showroom, is parcel 15E. The building permit indicates
that all of your proposed signs are proposed on parcel 15D. Judy Martin processed the intake of your
permits. Please double -check the locations of your proposed signs and contact Judy to correct your permits
if they are not all proposed for the same parcel.
Please provide:
1. Two full sets of revised drawings addressing each of the issues identified above. Include updated
revision dates on each drawing.
2. A memo including detailed responses indicating how each condition has been satisfied. If changes
other than those requested have been made, identify those changes in the memo also.
3. The attached "Revised Application Submittal" form. This form must be returned with your revisions to
ensure proper tracking and distribution.
When staffs review of this information indicates that all conditions of approval have been met, a Certificate of
Appropriateness may be issued.
