Subject: Site Review Meeting Comments July 17"', 2008 site review meeting
Dear Mr. Brooks:
Below are VDOT's comments on the Site Plans for the July 17th' 2008 Site Review Committee
Meeting:
SDP - 2005 -00135 Kia Auto Dealership — Maior (Megan Yaniglos)
• The entrance is in accordance with the approved road plan for Olympia Road Phase II.
• A profile needs to be shown at the entrance according to the CG -11 standard.
SDP - 2008 -00100 Moores Creek Nutrient Removal — Major (Summer Frederick)
SDP - 2008 -00101 Oakleigh Final (Francis MacCall)
• The minimum distance of tangent from the back of the radius off Route 631 to the
beginning of the radius entering the lot between building B and Rio Road should be a
minimum of 50 feet according to The Minimum Standards of Entrances to State
Highways. Without this separation, there will be conflicts with left turn movements into
the parking lot and vehicles entering Route 631 from Nichols Court. If the proper
distance cannot be designed, Nichols Court needs to be divided so there is no left turn
permitted.
• The sidewalk needs to be 7 feet wide when constructed adjacent to the back of curb as
shown in VDOT's IIM- 55.11.
• Remove the "converted manhole" out of the pavement and relocate the pipe to behind the
sidewalk or separate the sidewalk from the curb and provide a manhole behind the curb.
• The emergency access route appears to be designed as a private entrance and looks that it
is easily accessible to unauthorized traffic. The existing CG -9D does not look to have an

adequate accessible route and needs to be addressed. If this entrance is only for
emergency vehicles it needs to be designed as such. If the development has access to the
Berkmar Shopping Center, what is the need for this access?
• Pavement widening needs to be in accordance with standard WP -2
Please request the applicants provide a written description of revisions with re- submissions. If you
