RE: ARB- 2008 -109: Mountainside Senior Living Sign
B200801161S
Ms. Robinson,
I have reviewed your revised design for the above -noted freestanding sign refacing. Because the sign
face will have an opaque background and because the design otherwise meets the ARB Design
Guidelines, I am able to review this proposal administratively for the ARB. I have approved a sign
refacing of the design outlined below. You may consider this letter your Certificate of Appropriateness.
FREESTANDING POLE SIGN
Type: Existing double -face, cabinet, pole sign
Sign Face Size: 96 "(W) x 22" (H)
Text: "MOUNTAINSIDE SENIOR LIVING"
"A JABA ASSISTED LIVING COMMUNITY"
Graphics: none
Colors: Background: PMS 316C; Text: White.
Illumination: Existing internally illuminated cabinet with opaque background, only letters are
illuminated.
Location: Bottom tenant panel beneath Bank of America sign.
Regarding the proposed wall sign, I have reviewed your submittal and determined that based on the
proposed location of the sign it is not expected to be visible from the EC. Consequently, ARB review
will not be required. If your plans change in any way for this sign, please contact me so that we may
determine if visibility will change and if ARB review will be required.
This approval is predicated on the fact that the design and materials, as proposed and listed above, will
be used. The acceptance of approval implies that the applicant has agreed to execute the design as
indicated on the submittal items presented, and as listed above. Any changes in the approved sign or
materials will require an amendment to the application and must be reviewed and approved by the
Architectural Review Board.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1. This approval does not include any window signs. If window signs are proposed, a separate
application must be made, reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board.
2. Please note that "opaque" means that light will not pass through the material.
Consequently, the color of the background portion of the face of the sign will not be
visible when the sign is internally illuminated at night. If you have any question about
this requirement for an opaque background, do not proceed with the construction or
installation of the sign until you have spoken with County staff.
If you have any questions concerning any of the above, please feel free to call me.
Sincerely,
Brent Nelson
