Subject: SDP - 2008 -072 Old Trail Blocks 15 & 31 Follow Up Flag: Follow up Flag Status: Red SDP - 2008 -072 Old Trail Blocks 15 & 31 Megan Yaniglos, We have reviewed the above site plan and have the following comments: Geometrics • The grades on Claremont Lane need to be shown on sheet R -1 • The entrance to the Private Alley from Fielding Run Drive does not conform to the CG -11 standard because of the steep grade on the Private Alley between stations 13 +00 and 13 +15 (see sheet R -3). • The sight distance lines should be drawn for the intersection of Old Trail Drive and Glen Valley Drive. The VDOT right -of -way should also be shown on Old Trail Drive. If the sight distance lines move outside the right -of -way, a sight distance easement will be needed. • The K- values for the sag vertical curves on Glen Valley Road with PVI stations 20 +40.00 and 24 +53.54 are 10.13 and 5.39 respectively. Table 5 on sheet R -3 states that the minimum K- values for a sag vertical curve with a 20 mph design speed is 20. Drainage • According to HDA 08 -03, the maximum allowable spread for an inlet adjacent to a parking lane or a bike lane is 10 ft. If the inlet is not adjacent to a parking lane or bike lane, the maximum allowable spread is defined as 1/2 driving lane + gutter width in chapter 9 of the VDOT Drainage Manual. Since the driving lane is 10 ft wide and the gutter is 2 ft wide, the maximum allowable spread is 7 ft. Drainage structures 9, 17, 23, and 25 have left, right, or inlet spreads which exceed 7 ft. • Underdrains (VDOT standard UD -4) are needed underneath the curb and gutter sections where the traffic volume is greater than or equal to 1000 vpd. Underdrains are also recommended underneath curb and gutter sections where the volume is lower. If you have any questions, please contact Joel DeNunzio or me. Thanks, A.J.
