The Water protection Plan for Crozet Station, Phase 1 — Final submitted 25 August 2008 has received Engineering
review. The following items will be adequately addressed prior to final approval.
1. Off -site grading easements or letters of intent are required from adjacent property owners.
2. The County cannot indorse specific products such as the North American Green ES &C blankets. Please
change the specifications to include similar products.
3. Silt fence shown in a diversion like installation directing storm flows into the low points does not meet the
design requirements stated in the VESCH. Silt fence can be replaced with a diversion leading to a sediment
trap or silt fence can be shown following a single contour elevation per VESCH Std. and Spec. 3. The
adjacent property has an existing sediment structure that should have been designed for the total drainage
area and may be below a possible staging area for this site.
4. If Silt fence is proposed, then please clarify the type of silt fence in the narrative. Wire - supported silt fence
is shown in the detail, but not mentioned in the narrative.
5. Plan appears to require a "staging area" for site development. The construction process will require a large
area for structural steal and other construction supplies. This area can be off -site if adjacent to the site and
with the adjacent property owners permission. If so, then a copy of the agreement will be required.
6. Channel detail appears to require a depth designation. The channel appears to be about 18 inches deep, but
the calculations do not appear to match the detail.
7. Pipe profiles do not appear to match the computations. Pipe profiles show an 18 -inch pipe, but the
computations are for a 24 -inch pipe.
8. The County and Filterra require written approval of the plan from the manufacturer. Filterra will review the
plan and send a letter of approval for the proposed locations and design. Please submit a copy of the
approval letter for County files.
9. Site appears to have at least two drainage areas requiring BMP computation work sheets for each.
10. Inlet protection details do not appear to be appropriate applications to protect this project. Please review
the choices in the VESCH for applications with emergency overflow characteristics and installations in
pavement and gravel situation.
11. Safety fencing is strongly recommended to protect the store employees and patrons during construction.
Additional comments may be generated due to the requested changes or additional information required for
approval.
