Because these signs have opaque backgrounds and because the design otherwise meets the ARB design guidelines, I am able to review this proposal administratively for the ARB. I have approved a sign of the design outlined below. You may consider this letter your Certificate of Appropriateness FREESTANDING SIGN Quantity: Two monument signs with three tenant panels each Type: Double -sided tenant panels on a brick monument. Materials: Frosted acrylic and vinyl panels, brick monument. Location: At the Rt. 29 and Rio Road entrances. Mounting: Panels to be attached to aluminum standoffs that are attached to an aluminum flat bar on brick. Overall Monument: 10' -0" Wide x 8' -0" High Overall Cabinet: 8' -0" Wide x 4' -0" High Panel Size: 7' -9" Wide x 1' -2" High Text: "THE Vitamin Shoppe" "Sprint" "Together with NEXTEL" "JIMMY JOHN'S" Colors: Cabinet: painted gold PMS 129m; Panel: Acrylite FF Crystal Ice acrylic sheets; Letters: black. Graphic: None Illumination: External Landscaping: None This approval is predicated on the fact that the design and materials, as proposed and listed above, will be used. The acceptance of approval implies that the applicant has agreed to execute the design as indicated on the submittal items presented, and as listed above. Any changes in the approved sign or materials will require an amendment to the application and must be reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1. This approval does not include any window signs. If window signs are proposed, a separate application must be made, reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board. 2. Channel letters with translucent faces shall be constructed such that no light spills outward from the top, bottom, sides or back. 3. Please note that "opaque" means that light will not pass through the material. Consequently, the color of the background portion of the face of the sign will not be visible when the sign is internally illuminated at night. If you have any question about this requirement for an opaque background, do not proceed with the construction or installation of the sign until you have spoken with County staff.
