RE: ARB- 2008 -125: The New Deli & Grill
Dear Mr. Grady:
Fax (434) 972 -4126
I have reviewed your request for the above -noted proposal, which includes proposed changes to
the roof over the porch, the addition of a door on the north side of the building, and the addition
of a cooking hood vent on the roof of the building. Because the door will be minimally visible,
the vent will be no more visible than the existing equipment, and the standing seam metal is
compatible with the historic buildings of the area, I have approved the proposed changes with the
following conditions:
1. The Forest Green color shall be used for the standing seam metal material that will
replace the wood shingles on the roof over the porch.
2. The letters for the sign, The New Deli, shall be replaced in their exact location, but in a
straight and even manner. New signage will require a sign permit and review by the
ARB.
3. The single door proposed to be added on the north fagade shall be an exact match to the
front door.
4. The front door shall be replaced with an exact replica of the existing door, consisting of a
single glass pane set in a dark bronze metal frame.
You may consider this letter your Certificate of Appropriateness.
This approval is predicated on the fact that the design, as proposed on the floor plan submitted
September 16, 2008 and the material samples submitted, will be used. The acceptance of approval
implies that the applicant has agreed to execute the design as indicated on the submittal items
presented. Any changes in the approved design or materials will require an amendment to the
application and must be reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1. This approval does not include any window signs. If window signs are proposed, a
separate application must be made, reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review
Board.
If you have any questions concerning any of the above, please feel free to call me.
Sincerely,
Eryn Brennan
