Ammy,
I just got these out to the county this morning. It took a little longer than I had hoped because of the signal
warrant because I wanted to discuss the warrants with my traffic section prior to getting out the comments. They
still need to give the final approval of a signal but overall it looks likes the warrants are good.
Thanks,
Joel

Gerald,
I have reviewed the above site plan and have the following comments:
• The revised traffic signal warrant analysis has been submitted separately and it appears that the signal
is warranted for the existing conditions of the site. I have forwarded the warrant analysis to the VDOT Northwest
Regional Operations office to verify the warrants and give approval for the installation of a traffic signal.
• The radii on the entrance should be a minimum 42 feet to accommodate a single unit truck. Curbing
needs to be constructed around both the radii.

• The curbing needs to extend from the eastern side radius of the proposed entrance down to the exiting
curbing at the main entrance to Northridge. Adequate drainage needs to be provided along this section. The
design also needs to address the two existing pipes under the proposed entrance and the Northridge entrance.
These pipes appear to be undersized and causing some erosion in the roadway ditches from being too small and
too close to the shoulder of Route 250.
• The pavement at the entrance to the proposed site needs to be the same design as the pavement on
route 250 back to the ROW line.
A striping plan will need to be submitted for route 250 to show a left turn lane into the site.
• Once the signal is approved by the Northwest Regional Operations office, a striping plan and signal
plan will need to be submitted for approval for the proposed signal.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
Joel
