Dear Mr. Shimp:
I have reviewed your submittal for the above - referenced project received November 14, 2008. Outstanding issues that
will need to be further addressed are shown in italics after the original comment from the Action Letter of November 7,
2008.
1. Show utility easements on the landscape plan on Sheet A1.0. If the proposed light fixture is located within the utility
easement, provide documentation from the gas company that there is no objection to placing the light fixture in the proposed
location. Alternatively, shift the pole out of the easement.
The Major Site Plan Amendment Memo states that all the utility lines shown on SheetA1.0 are private and therefore
do not require easements. However, Sheet C2 General Notes & Legend indicates that water on the site is provided
by the Albemarle County Service Authority, which is a public utility. The gas line shown along the north property
line is also a public utility line that is required to have easements. Revise Sheet A1.0 to show easements for all the
public utility lines on the site. If the freestanding light pole proposed in the north parking area is located in the
easement of the gas line, provide documentation from the gas company that there is no objection to placing the light
fixture in the proposed location, or shift the pole out of the easement.
Revise Sheet A 1.0 Building Plan and Elevations to indicate that the blue trim in the gable and cupola will be painted
white.
The requested note was not added to Sheet A1.0. Add a note on Sheet AI.0 that the blue trim in the gable and
cupola will be painted white
3. Revise the southeast elevation to include a double window in the front third of the wall.
The applicant did add a double window on the southeast elevation; however the placement of the window presents
an awkward appearance. The location of the double window should be revised to coordinate with the location of the
windows on the front facade. Shifting the proposed double window closer to the front edge of the building, so the
transition of the windows from the front to the side elevation, or vice - versa, appears as a continuation as opposed to
an afterthought would present a more coordinated and cohesive appearance.
Please provide:
1. One copy of revised drawings addressing the aforementioned comment.
2. A memo indicating specifically how the condition has been satisfied. If changes other than those requested have
been made, specifically identify those changes in the memo, also. "Clouding" requested changes (information)
will facilitate the review of your submittal. All requested information is to be shown on the sheets in the site
plan package.
3. The attached "Revised Application Submittal" form. This form must be returned with your revisions to ensure
proper tracking and distribution.
When staffs review of this information indicates that all conditions of approval have been met, a Certificate of
Appropriateness may be issued. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
