[mailto: Joel .Denunzio @VDOT.virginia.gov] Sent: Monday, March 09, 2009 2:49 PM To: Amy Pflaum Subject: SDP - 2008 -101 Oakleigh Final SDP - 2008 -101 Oakleigh Final Amy, I have reviewed the above site plan and have the following comments: Item number 2 below has not been addressed. In re- reviewing the site plan again I have additional concerns with the street trees along Rio Road to the west of the proposed entrance. Because of the sight distance in relation to the existing curvature of the road, I am concerned that the proposed trees will cause a sight distance obstruction and reduce the safety of the entrance. The trees in this section should be removed from the plan. The proposed sidewalk along the west section of Rio Road is not drawn properly at the beginning of the roadway taper. This section scales to 5 feet and then increases to 7 feet at the entrance. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks Joel Joel DeNunzio, P.E. Place a "No Left Turn" sign at the first driveway on the left as you enter the site. 2. Street trees along the street need to meet the clear zone requirements. The clear zone is 16 feet in this area and measured from the edge of pavement. The trees proposed a the taper section and west must be placed in accordance with the clear zone. 3. A permit will be required for any work within the VDOT ROW. 4. A maintenance agreement will be required for all landscaping within the VDOT ROW. If you have any questions, please contact me.
