RE: ARB- 2008 -50 & 51: G.E. Fanuc Signs, North and South Entrances

Dear Mr. Schwartz:
I have reviewed your resubmittal for the above - referenced project received December 4, 2008. Outstanding
issues that will need to be further addressed are shown in italics after the original comment from the email of
August 25, 2008 sent to your assistant, Enkie Solomon.
Please revise drawings for ARB 08 -50 and ARB 08 -51 (GE Fanuc North and South Entrances) to show:
The PMS colors being proposed. Please be aware that overly intense colors are prohibited by the
EC Sign Guidelines.
Comment: The red and yellow PMS colors currently proposed are overly intense. Also, Entrance
Corridor Guidelines recommend the use of 3 or fewer colors. The current proposal is for 4 colors.
Entrance Corridor Guidelines state that additional colors may be approved if they contribute to a
balanced and unified sign design.
Recommendations: Revise the current proposal by changing the PMS Yellow to a less intense
shade of yellow. Revise the Red PMS 032 to the Blue PMS 7455 already included in this proposal.

Comment: This comment was not addressed in the drawings provided.
Recommendations: Revise the drawings to show the proposed text and font size.

• Revise the GE Fanuc Sign, North Entrance so that the right end section of the sign containing the text
TRUCK ENTRANCE, VISITORS is blue text on a white background. The remainder of the sign,
presently with a white background, should be revised to correspond with the sign proposal at the South
Entrance; white text on blue background with the GE FANUC logo as proposed. Revise the sign
frame color from white to blue to match the blue in the sign face.
Comment: This comment was not addressed in the drawings provided.
Recommendations: Revise the GE Fanuc Sign, North Entrance so that the right end section of the sign
containing the text TRUCK ENTRANCE, VISITORS is blue text on a white background. The
remainder of the sign, presently with a white background, should be revised to correspond with the
sign proposal at the South Entrance; white text on blue background with the GE FANUC logo as
proposed. Revise the sign frame color from white to blue to match the blue in the sign face.
The following notes should also be added to the drawings:
1. Landscaping will remain as existing.
2. Cabinet signs shall be constructed such that no light spills outward from the top,
bottom, sides or back.
3. Internally illuminated cabinet with opaque background, only letters are illuminated.
(For south entrance only)
Comments: These 3 notes were not included in the drawings provided.
Recommendations: Provide the following notes on the drawings:
1. Landscaping will remain as existing.

Please provide:
1. Two full size copies of revised drawings, to scale, addressing the aforementioned comment.
2. A memo indicating specifically how the condition has been satisfied. If changes other than those
requested have been made, specifically identify those changes in the memo, also. Clear, specific, and
accurate information will facilitate the review of your submittal.
3. The attached "Revised Application Submittal" form. This form must be returned with your revisions
to ensure proper tracking and distribution.
When staff s review of this information indicates that all conditions of approval have been met, a Certificate of
Appropriateness may be issued. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
