Along with permits from the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF), they need a permit from
ACFR for the storage of explosives. Do you have a specific contact, or do we follow up with the main office?

Subject: Rivanna Quarry
Sorry to copy both of you, I wasn't sure which way to go on this. Dr. Hurt is seeking
approval to reopen an old rock quarry on the west side of Rt. 29 just north of the
reservoir. I hear that he's already started to work there prior to our approvals. The
quarry itself is along Rio Mills Road. They will temporarily store some amounts of
explosives on the property related to necessary blasting.
What approvals will they need from your agency and to whom should I direct them?
