Outstanding issues that will need to be further addressed are shown in italics after the original comment from
the Action Letters of September 5, 2008 and November 21, 2008.
1. Revise the building elevation drawings to clearly indicate the brand name and color name of the two
proposed color samples and the building materials (ElFS or metal panel) they would be paired with.
Revise Sheet A502 Elevations by providing details, including color, of the proposed railing around the
pergola.
Comments: The drawings included in this latest submission do not indicate the color of the proposed
pergola railing.
Recommendations: Revise all applicable drawings to indicate the color of the proposed pergola railing.
2. Revise Sheet C5 Final Landscape Plan by showing flowering ornamental trees interspersed amongst the
Everclear Chinese Elm EC street trees.
Comments: The applicant's memo, accompanying this latest submission, states that Kwanzan Cherry
Trees have been interspersed amongst the EC street trees. The intent of the guideline, and the
corresponding comment, was to have some regularity in the interspersing of the ornamental trees, as
viewed from the Airport Road Corridor. Sheet C5 Final Landscape Plan shows a 120' wide distance
(gap) between the 2 Kwanzan Cherry Trees proposed in the northeast corner of the parking lot and the 2
Kwanzan Cherry Trees proposed closer to the northwest corner of this parking lot. This configuration
does not represent the regularity called for by the guideline and corresponding comment.
Recommendations: Revise all applicable drawings to show the Kwanzan Cherry Trees interspersed
amongst the Everclear Chinese Elms EC street trees. There shall be a regularity in the spacing of the
Cherry trees for the full length of the EC frontage.
3. Revise Sheet C5 -1 Plaza Landscape Plan to include all the plaza details shown on the rendered plan view
of the plaza and the details of the water feature outlined in the applicant's memo. Revise the photometric
plan to include a detail of the planter containing the water feature, clearly showing where the LED flood
lights would be located.
Comments: The applicant's memo, accompanying this latest submission, states that Sheet C5 -1 Plaza
Landscape Plan includes the location of the LED flood lights, with the lights placed on the interior side of
the seat wall surrounding the fountain. No indication of these lights could be found on Sheet C5 -1.
Recommendations: Revise Sheet C5 -1 Plaza Landscape Plan to clearly show the location of the proposed
LED flood lights.
4. (From 11/21/08 work session Action Letter) Confirm that the railing design has not changed since the
previous review.
Comments: This comment came from a Board member who noticed that the drawings provided for the
November 17, 2008 work session showed a railing design that did not look like the railing design as
shown on Sheet A502 Elevations, latest revision date 6130108, reviewed and approved at the 912108
meeting. The railing design in the current submission continues to not look like the railing reviewed and
approved on 912108. However, the applicant's memo, accompanying this latest submission, states that
metal railing design has not changed since the previous review.
Recommendations: Revise all applicable drawings and details to show the same pergola railing design
shown on Sheet A502 Elevations, latest revision date 6130108 orprovide an alternate detail of the railing
for review and approval.
Please provide:
1. Two copies of revised drawings addressing the aforementioned comment.
2. A memo indicating specifically how the condition has been satisfied. If changes other than those
requested have been made, specifically identify those changes in the memo, also "Clouding" requested
changes (information) will facilitate the review of your submittal. Clear, specific, and accurate
information will facilitate the review of your submittal.
3. The attached "Revised Application Submittal" form. This form must be returned with your revisions
to ensure proper tracking and distribution.
When staff s review of this information indicates that all conditions of approval have been met, a Certificate of
Appropriateness may be issued. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
