RE: ARB- 2009 -10, B200900132S: Porsche of Charlottesville Freestanding Sign; (Tax Map 78, Parcel 15E)
Dear Mr. Schwartz:
I have reviewed your request for the above -noted sign. Because the proposed sign has an opaque background and otherwise
meets the ARB design guidelines, I am able to review this proposal administratively for the ARB. I have approved the sign of the
design outlined below. You may consider this letter your Certificate of Appropriateness.
FREESTANDING SIGNS
Type: Monument
Materials: Aluminum, acrylic
Location: South side of Richmond Road, at the west side of the western entrance to the site
Overall Sign Size: I V -10" High x 50 3/4" Wide x 12" Deep
Panel Sizes: Upper Panel: 49" High x 371/4" Wide; Lower Panel: 93" High x 371/x" Wide
Text: Upper Panel: "Porsche" within logo; Lower Panel: "Charlottesville"
Colors: Panels: Porsche silver RAL 9000; Logo: Gold, black, red; Text: Black at day, white at night
Graphic: Logo on upper panel: Porsche logo
Illumination: Internal fluorescent; logo and "Charlottesville" to illuminate
Landscaping: As approved with ARB -07 -98
This approval is predicated on the fact that the design and materials, as proposed and listed above, will be used. The
acceptance of approval implies that the applicant has agreed to execute the design as indicated on the submittal items
presented, and as listed above. Any changes in the approved sign or materials will require an amendment to the application
and must be reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:
1. This approval does not include any window signs. If window signs are proposed, a separate application must be made,
reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board.
2. "Opaque" means that light will not pass through the material. Consequently, the color of the background portion of the
face of the sign will not be visible when the sign is internally illuminated at night. If you have any question about this
requirement for an opaque background, do not proceed with the construction or installation of the sign until you have
spoken with County staff.
