Nixon, Jr.'; Barbara Hutchinson; William M. Eschenfelder; Susan E. Winslow Cc: Glenn Brooks; Amy Pflaum Subject: County Engineering Downstream Channel Commentary Good afternoon, Yesterday morning, Glenn Brooks, Amy Pflaum, and I walked 1500ft of the downstream channel north of the Airport outfall. Along the channel, we noted several eroded walls on the east bank of the stream which we attributed mostly to the farming of TMP 32 -7. The stream channel segments closest to the airport seemed to be in better condition than those segments farther downstream. Considering our findings and the considerable detention of the 2 -year storm provided in the three stormwater ponds, the County will accept the proposed channel upgrade measures as the only required improvements with one exception: 2ft of fill must be placed over the two 36" culverts at the Crickenberger crossing so that more freeboard is available for the ten -year and higher storms. Please provide the county with an estimated cost of the downstream improvements so the bond amount can be updated. Please also provide a letter or easement document from the owner of the property on which the improvements will take place authorizing the proposed construction. Please contact me should you have any questions. Thanks, Phil (434) 296 -5832 x3072 4/22/2009
