You may consider this letter your Certificate of Appropriateness for the Dairy Queen wall signs described below. WALL SIGNS — DAIRY QUEEN Type: Cabinets with embossed faces Quantity: 2 Locations: Centered in the upper portion of the stone "towers" of the north and west elevations Materials: Aluminum, polycarbonate Sign size: 4'3" tall x 6' 6" long Text: "DQ" Colors: Red (PMS 185) background, White (3630 -20) letters, orange (PMS 1375) and blue (PMS 300) accents ( "swishes "), brushed aluminum cabinet Graphics: Orange and blue "swishes" at top right and bottom left Mounting: Mounted to raceway, raceway color to match color of wall to which it is attached Illumination: Internal fluorescent, background must be opaque WALL SIGN — RESTAURANT Type: Cabinet with embossed face Quantity: 1 Locations: Centered below the "DQ" cabinet, aligned with the metal band, on the west elevation Materials: Aluminum, polycarbonate Sign size: 8'5" tall x 2'1" long Text: "Restaurant" Colors: Black (3630 -22) background, White (3630 -20) letters, orange (PMS 1375) border, brushed aluminum cabinet Graphics: None Mounting: Direct to wall Illumination: Internal fluorescent, background must be opaque This approval is predicated on the fact that the design and materials, as proposed and listed above, will be used. The acceptance of approval implies that the applicant has agreed to execute the design as indicated on the submittal items presented, and as listed above. Any changes in the approved sign or materials will require an amendment to the application and must be reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: "Opaque" means that light will not pass through the material. Consequently, the color of the background portion of the face of the sign will not be visible when the sign is internally illuminated at night. It appears that the opaque backing of the DQ sign on the north wall has separated from the sign face, resulting in a portion of the sign background not being opaque. This must be resolved. The entire background of each sign must be fully opaque. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Sincerely, Margaret Maliszewski Principal Planner cc: ARB File Building Permit
