Comment 1: Signs located within the Entrance Corridor may not exceed the size, height and setback requirements as outlined in Section 4.15 of the Albemarle County Zoning Ordinance. The proposed sign is 6(h) x 8'(w) approx. and exceeds the 32 s.f. maximum permitted. Recommendation: Reduce the sign area to comply with the 32 s.f. maximum permitted by the Zoning Ordinance. Questions pertaining to the ordinance should be directed to Stewart Wright, Zoning Permit Planner at 434 - 296 -5832, ext. 3024 or swright2 @albemarle.org. Comment 2: Because LED lighting is proposed the sign drawing must state: The level of illumination provided by the LED lights will not exceed the illumination produced by a single stroke of 30 milliamp (ma) neon. Comment: Proposed cabinet signs shall have a non - illuminated background, or an opaque (zero light transmission) background. Recommendation: Revise Sheet 1 of 3 to include the following note: The sign shall have a non - illuminated background, or an opaque (zero light transmission) background only the text and logos shall illuminate. Comment: Cabinet signs shall be constructed such that no light spills outward from the top, bottom, sides or back. Required drainage holes in the bottom of the cabinet are permitted. Recommendation: Revise Sheet 1 of 3 to include the following note: The sign cabinet shall be constructed such that no light spills outward from the top, bottom, sides or back. Comment: Channel letters with translucent faces shall be constructed such that no light spills outward from the top, bottom, sides or back. Required drainage holes in the bottom of the channel letters are permitted. Recommendation: Revise Sheet 1 of 3 to include the following note: The channel letters shall be constructed such that no light spills outward from the top, bottom, sides or back. Emailing the revised application drawings will expedite the review and approval. Please include all drawings /photos (except for the site plan) from the original submission in the email.
