Amy,
We have reviewed the above referenced plan and have the following comments:
Route 29 widening plan:
• A signal modification plan will be required prior to permitting the work and connection of Northpassage to the
state right of way.
• The H &H analysis will to be modified to show the water surface profile for the base flood. The engineer has
been contacted by our district office to discuss the requirements for the surface profile.
• The retaining wall will not be reviewed until the H &H analysis is revised. There is a possibility that the location
of the RW -2 will need to be modified after the analysis.
• CG -7 needs to be used in the Route 29 right of way.
• Pavement widening needs to be in accordance with the WP -2 standard.
• Standard VDOT drawings should be included in the plan for WP -2, CG -7, UD -4 etc.
• Dimensions should be shown for all new and or extended turn lane lengths and tapers.
• The retaining wall will be reviewed and approved by VDOT materials division after the new analysis is received.
• The signal plan will be reviewed by VDOT Traffic Engineering, they will also provide comments on the striping
plan but an initial review of the striping plan has been completed.
• The north side of the proposed new entrance on Route 29 needs to have the curbing offset from the travel lane
12 feet in accordance with the requirements of the Access Management Standards for commercial entrances.
• The proposed wall along the new Lewis and Clarke Dr. needs to be removed and replaced with guardrail for
safety and maintenance reasons.
Curb ramps should be installed for the sidewalks.
If you have any questions or comments, please let me know.
Thanks,
Joel
