Whirley ACTING COMMISSIONER March 22, 2010 Mr. Bill Fritz Dept. of Planning & Community Development 401 McIntire Road Charlottesville, VA 22902 RE: Special Use Permits and Rezoning Submittals Dear Mr. Fritz: Below are VDOT's comments for the March, 2010 Rezoning and Special Use Permit applications: SP- 2010 -00002 Crown BMW Parking (Margaret Maliszewski) • The existing lot has two CG -9 type entrances on route 250. Route 250 is an Urban Principal Arterial Road with a 45 mph speed limit. These entrances do not meet the minimum geometric standards or the minimum spacing standards as shown in the VDOT Road Design Manual. • The two CG -9 type entrances should be demolished and replaced with curb and gutter. Access to the parking area should be provided from the existing BMW parking lot to the east and the proposed public road People Place to the west. SP- 2010 -00003 5a` Street -Avon Center - Parking Structure (Claudette Grant) • No comments If you have any questions, please contact me. Sincerely, Joel DeNunzio, P.E.
