Ms. Woodson,
I am sending you this email as a follow up to our phone conversation today. As I mentioned, the following issues listed
below would need to be addressed before I could grant administrative approval of your sign proposal.
Issues:
Albemarle County Entrance Corridor Sign Design Guidelines state that the backgrounds of cabinet signs must be
made opaque (zero light transmission). In the current proposal, the entire sign (including the background) is
illuminated. Please revise the proposal to include the following note:
"The sign cabinet shall have a non - illuminated background or an opaque (zero light transmission) background,
only the logo and text shall illuminate."
2. The sign drawing provided does not indicate the proposed sign materials and the width and height of the
proposed text and logo. This information is needed because it will appear on the approval letter you receive
from me. Please revise the sign drawing to indicate the proposed sign materials and to indicate the dimensions
(width and height) for the proposed text and logo.
The sign drawing does not indicate whether or not the two existing wall -mount lights above the proposed sign
are to be removed. In our conversation, you indicated that the lights will be removed. Please revise the sign
drawing to include a note indicating that they will be removed.
The application can be approved administratively if the above -noted issues are addressed as requested. If you prefer
that the application, as currently submitted, be reviewed by the Architectural Review Board (ARB), that review would
take place on Monday, April 19, 2010. 1 would appreciate it if you could let me know by next Wednesday, March 17th if
you think you can address these issues as noted above (allowing me to administratively approve your application) or
that you would prefer a full review by the ARB on April 19th. You are welcome (& encouraged) to email me revised
drawings /renderings. This makes the whole process go faster, and we appreciate having them in a digital format.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
