Jason — I just left you a voice mail. You and I spoke on the phone on February 2, 2010 concerning the issues for the wall
signs proposed for this location. These issues were outlined in my email below sent to you the same day. I have not
received any further communication from you and was wondering what the status was. When we last spoke, you were
requesting approval of the wall signs separately from the freestanding signs due to the location /utility issue for the
freestanding sign.
Concerning the proposed freestanding sign, the attached letter was sent to your office on January 6, 2010 indicating the
issues concerning that particular sign. As you will note, one of the issues had to do with the sign location and conflicts
with utilities. Stewart Wright, Zoning Permit Planner in our department, has indicated that you found a location for the
freestanding sign that is free of easements. To get approval for the freestanding sign and reader board, you will need to
revise your application as per all of the comments in the attached letter. That letter indicated staff would ask the
Architectural Review Board on January 19th what criteria was required concerning the lighting of reader boards. Please
be advised that the ARB stated:
"The reader board shall have an opaque background. Only the letters may be illuminated, but illumination is
not required."
If the reader board in this proposal is to be illuminated please include the following note: "The reader board shall have
an opaque background; only the letters are to illuminate." If the reader board is not to illuminate, please add a note
indicating that.
Please call me so we can discuss all this before you resubmit anything.

Hi Jason — I have tried to call you several times yesterday and today and keep getting a message that your office is
closed. I did leave a voice mail on your cell phone. Your email included Sheet 4 showing the wall sign on the front (west)
elevation; however, it did not include Sheet 5 showing the wall sign on the side (south) elevation. Also, your application
to the Architectural Review Board did not include Sheet 8 which has the sign dimensions.
Please email me:
• Sheet 5 showing the wall sign on the side (south) elevation. Be sure to revise Sheet 5 to include all of the notes you
placed on Sheet 4 at my request.
• Sheet 8 which has the sign dimensions.
Please call me when you get this email so we can discuss prior to your emailing me.

As a follow up to our phone conversation this morning concerning the above -noted sign proposal, I am attaching a letter
outlining the issues I identified in our discussion. A hard copy of the letter is in the mail. As we noted, the issues with the
wall signs are minor whereas the issues with the freestanding sign are more significant and will require time for you to
work through.
You indicated that it appeared you could revise the wall sign proposal to address the issues identified — allowing this to
continue as an administrative review and approval. You also indicated a desire to defer review of the freestanding sign
while you work to resolve the location issue. If that is still the case, please reply to my email no later than Monday,
January 11th stating that you will be able to revise the wall sign proposal according to the issues outlined in the attached
letter and that you desire to defer review of the freestanding sign while you work out the location issue. Doing this will
allow me to remove your proposal from the January 19th ARB meeting agenda and continue to handle this review
administratively with you.
