Although it has not been formally evaluated by the Virginia Department of Historic Resources regarding eligibility for listing in the State and National Registers, the DHR survey form does describe the church as a "well - executed example of early 20th century Gothic Revival on a small scale." The 1920s date of construction classifies it as an historic structure. An addition is constructed on the back of the original church building, and a separate Sunday school building has been constructed to the west. The addition and school building are not architecturally or historically significant. There are several large, mature trees on the property. They contribute significantly to the character of the site. Four of these trees are proposed to be removed for the church expansion. The proposed expansion would demolish the addition behind the original church building and construct a new addition that would extend eastward from the separate Sunday school building, adjoin the north (back) end of the church, and project further to the east beyond the church. The east end of the addition would project southward, obscuring the northernmost bay of the church's east elevation. This bay currently features the stonework and decorative window style that are among the primary architectural features of the church. To respect and reinforce the architectural and historic character of the church amidst the substantial non - historic construction, it is recommended that the addition be redesigned to eliminate contact with the northern stone bay of the church's east elevation and that the south elevation of the addition not project any further south than the face of the existing separate Sunday school building. It is recommended that the addition impact the historic fabric of the church as little as possible. It is also recommended that the mature trees be retained.
