Summer,
I have reviewed the minor amendment for the BB &T Bank at Fashion Square Mall (SDP- 2010 - 00074), received 16
September 2010. County Engineering offers no objection to the approval of this site plan application.
I will note however that the approved SP application plan shows a distance of 19.25ft between the ATM island and the
brick wall. In this minor amendment application, the width is dimensioned as 18ft but actually measures to be 16.5ft at
the narrowest point. To me, this modification does not cause the plan to be in violation of the SP Condition (that the
development be in general accord with the application plan), but you might want to consider this question yourself or
pose it to Zoning.
Section 4.12.17.c.2.a mentions a 16ft width being adequate for one direction travelways when a bypass is needed. If
you or Zoning are uncomfortable with the reduction in width from the approved plan and are concerned with increased
frequency of bottlenecking, I recommend that the applicant stripe the escape or bypass lane(s) (as illustrated in the
attached document).
