Dear Brion,
I am sending this letter as a follow up to our phone conversation regarding your sign proposal. The following
issues listed below would need to be addressed before I could grant administrative approval. Please note that
Comprehensive Sign Criteria have been established for this building; those criteria, outlining the conditions required for
sign approval, are attached.
Issues:
As we discussed, your proposed sign location in the northeast elevation, facing Rio Road West, is currently
occupied by the "Specialty Guitars Plus" sign. You indicated that both you and the owners of Specialty Guitars
Plus would like to reface that existing 3' (h) x 10' (w) sign to include both your signage and theirs. You will
need to provide me with revised photos /drawings of that proposal, and the sign permit for both your proposal
and Specialty Guitars Plus will need to be revised. Please note that in your current sign proposal, the graphics
and text crowd the sign area leaving an inadequate amount of white background showing around the edge of the
sign.
2. The proposed 2' x 4' panel sign in the southeast elevation facing Route 29N requires a sign permit and was not
included in the original sign permit application. That permit will need to be amended to include this sign. The
sign is shown directly beneath the second story window located above the blue and white canopy over the tire
store entrance. This is not an approved location for signs and it crowds that section of the building fagade.
Relocating the sign to the band immediately to the left of the blue and white canopy, centered top to bottom and
left to right would be appropriate. Only a portion of the proposed sign is visible in the photo provided. Please
revise the sign location accordingly and provide a photo /sign rendering showing the entire sign.
This application can be approved administratively if the above issues are addressed adequately. Submission of revised
photos /drawings by email is permitted and encouraged but not required. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you
have any questions.
Sincerely,
Brent W. Nelson
