RE: ARB- 2010 -134: Taco Bell Re -build
Dear Mr. Cook:
The Albemarle County Architectural Review Board reviewed the above noted item at its meeting on Monday,
January 18, 2011. The Board, by a vote of 5:0, approved the request, pending staff administrative approval of
the following conditions:
1. The building shall use the entry "tower" design illustrated in Option A without the flying arch.
2. The building shall use the false window design for the southern elevation illustrated in Option B.
3. Revise the plan to identify the manufacturer and color of the EP Henry Earth Tone 37 -D block for
the dumpster enclosure.
4. Add the following note to the site and architectural plans: "Mechanical equipment shall not be visible
from the Entrance Corridor."
5. Revise the photometric plan so that spillover at the property line along Route 29 does not exceed .5
footcandles. Reduce the intensity of the parking lot illumination to a maximum of 20 footcandles.
6. Revise the Evolution Canopy to include lamps that emit less than 3000 lumens (less than 40 watt
metal halide).
Please provide:
1. Two full sets of revised drawings addressing each of these conditions. Include updated ARB revision
dates on each drawing.
2. A memo including detailed responses indicating how each condition has been satisfied. If changes
other than those requested have been made, identify those changes in the memo also. Highlighting
the changes in the drawing with "clouding" or by other means will facilitate review and approval.
3. The attached "Revised Application Submittal" form. This form must be returned with your revisions to
ensure proper tracking and distribution.
When staff's review of this information indicates that all conditions of approval have been met, a Certificate of
Appropriateness may be issued. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Margaret M. Maliszewski
